22nd April 2025, Malda
In a significant move to empower rural women and enhance grassroots resilience, ICAR-KVK Malda, in collaboration with ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, successfully concluded the Poshan Pakhwada celebrations held from April 8 to 22, 2025. Centered around the theme “Empowering Nutrition through Green”, the initiative spanned 10 villages across Malda district, focusing on nutrition, livelihood, and sustainable development.
A key achievement was the installation of 10 low-cost green shade net structures under the SCSP scheme. Each unit is managed by a group of 10 rural women, directly benefiting 100 women farmers. These greenhouses are currently producing over 300,000 healthy seedlings monthly, promoting year-round vegetable cultivation, improved household nutrition, and climate-resilient farming practices.

During the valedictory session, Dr. Pradip Dey addressed participants virtually, emphasizing the interconnection between nutrition, livelihoods, and the One Health approach. He highlighted the role of women in advancing food security and sustainable practices, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat, a developed India rooted in community resilience.
The event saw active participation from Subject Matter Specialists and KVK staff, showcasing collective commitment to building nutrition-secure and sustainable rural communities through innovative agro-based solutions.
