Foundation Course for Faculty of OUAT & PVNRTVU Concluded at ICAR-NAARM

ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad organized 21-day Foundation Course for the Faculty of Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneshwar and PV Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University (PVNRTVU), Hyderabad from 24 January to 13 February 2023 concluded today. A total of 31 participants (18 male & 13 female) participants from agriculture, veterinary and horticulture disciplines attended the foundation course.

The objectives of the foundation course were to improve the participant’s Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSA) change in Facets of Education, the Process of Teaching & Learning, Writing Winning Research Proposals, National Education Policy (NEP) - 2020, Project Management Techniques, Competencies & Group Dynamics, Entrepreneurship & Startups etc. Participating trainees were also taught about handling various RTIs, Statutes, Regulatory authorities present in the education and research in the university system.

Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR –NAARM in his presidential address mentioned that foundation courses for the newly recruited faculties of the university were organized in line with FOCARS for newly recruited agricultural scientists. He also said that this course provides a solid base for the faculties to the cause for what they have been recruited in the university. Further, he emphasized that this foundation course will serve as an investment made by the university in bringing future brains to maximize their potential in their respective disciplines.

A total of 69 sessions including lectures and practicals were completed by eminent experts on various aspects of teaching and learning. Educational trips were also arranged for the participants to make better off-farm experiences.

Dr. Vangur Ravinder Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, PVNRTVU, Hyderabad as the Chief Guest in the valedictory function. During his valedictory address he highlighted the importance of integrating teaching research and extension for enhancing the production and productivity of livestock for the final stakeholders i.e. farmers. He appreciated the efforts of ICAR-NAARM in shaping the three pillars namely, Determination, Self-belief & Positive Attitude for the newly recruited trainees through this foundation course.
