The Entomological Society of India on its Foundation Day, hosted the inaugural Entomological Students Conclave 2024 in partnership with the University of Agricultural Sciences, Gandhi Krishi Vikas Kendra, Bengaluru along with ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru, and ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, held at GKVK, Bengaluru, from 21st to 23rd February 2024. The event aimed to foster entomological research among students nationwide.
Dr. S. N. Sushil, Director, ICAR- National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru, highlighted ESI's dedication to the field since its inception in 1938, highlighting its position as a leading professional society for entomologists and related researchers in India.
The ESC 2024 invited 284 students to present research on various topics, with agrochemical companies like Dhanuka, UPL, and PI Industries familiarizing students with industrial entomology research. Twelve legendary entomologists received lifetime achievement awards and ten individuals were recognized as honorary fellows.
