Shri. Tariq Anwar, Hon. Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India visited Central Institute on Fisheries Education, Mumbai on December 31, 2012. The Hon. Minister was received by Dr. W. S. Larka, Director and Vice Chancellor and others and was shown various laboratories and new facilities of the institute.
Shri Anwar while addressing the staff and students of the institute lauded the work done by CIFE and called upon the scientists to develop suitable technologies and training programs to usher the blue revolution in Eastern and North-Eastern States of India. He further emphasized on skill development and competency in the students and the farming community for enhanced employability, productivity and profitability.
The minister released the annual Hindi magazine – Jalchari on the occasion. Shir. Munaf Hakim, Chairman, Minorities Commission, Govt. of Maharashtra also accompanied the Minister and addressed the audience.
