ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums, Ranchi celebrated its 93rd Foundation Day on here today.
Shri Saryu Rai, Minister for Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Jharkhand graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He opined that that the use of components of biological diversity must be in a way and at a rate that does not lead to the long-term decline of biological diversity, thereby maintaining its potential to meet the needs and aspiration of present and future generation.
He also released Monograph on Palas’ and a technical bulletin on ‘Model Bankable Projects Lac Cultivation for Livelihood Security’.
Dr. Kailash Chandra, Director, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata delivered 6th Ms. Dorothy Norris memorial lecture on this occasion. He emphasized upon the importance of biological diversity and necessity to conserve the same. The ecosystem services provided by the biological components are at present underexploited and the time has arrived to realize the importance of the same.
Earlier, Dr. K K Sharma, Director- ICAR-IINRG, briefed about the recent achievements of the institute.
Dignitaries and scientists from Central Tassar Research and Training Institute, ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Regional center of ICAR-RCER, Regional Station of NBPGR and other official from different organizations participated in the programme.
Institute also observed open days on 19th and 21st of September, 2016 for the students in which 1007 students from seven schools of the city visited the institute.
