Gramonnati Mandal Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Narayangaon (Pune-II) celebrated Rashtriya Mahila Kisan Diwas today.
Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune highlighted the contribution of women in crop husbandry, animal husbandry and managing household activities. Dr. Singh urged the women participants to become independent by creating own small agro-based enterprises. He emphasized to focus on nutritional security by creating more awareness and developing nutrition garden at household level. Dr. Singh urged the KVK’s to act as motivator for starting small scale enterprise for farm women.
Shri Govardhan Kulkarni, Successful Entrepreneur, Soumitra Foods, Nashik delivered lecture on Dehydration of Vegetables. He briefed about the process of naturally drying vegetables. Shri Kulkarni demonstrated the techniques of vegetables cutting and dehydration of vegetables with the help of solar dryer.
Earlier, Smt. Nivedita Shete, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), KVK Narayangaon spoke on dehydration of vegetables, forming self-help groups and Farmer Producer Organizations. More than 162 farm women and entrepreneurs were participated in the programme.
