ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, marked World Environment Day 2025 by organizing a tree plantation drive focused on this year’s global theme “Combating Plastic Pollution.” The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness about eco-friendly practices.
Dr. M.J. Baig, Former Director, ICAR-CRRI, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and led the plantation activity, emphasizing the importance of green initiatives in mitigating the adverse effects of pollution.

Dr. G.A.K. Kumar, Director, ICAR-CRRI, also took part in the drive, planting saplings and encouraging staff and researchers to actively contribute to environmental conservation.
The event reflected the institute’s ongoing commitment to reducing plastic use, conserving natural resources, and fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
The enthusiastic participation of scientists, staff, and students underscored ICAR-CRRI’s dedication to integrating sustainability into agricultural research and institutional practices.
