Annual Zonal Review Workshop for KVKs of Rajasthan, Haryana & Delhi organized

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - II, Jodhpur, Rajasthan organized the “Annual Zonal Review Workshop for KVKs of Rajasthan, Haryana & Delhi States” at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan from 25th to 27th June, 2022.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR said that the KVKs’ importance has been realized now-a-days and their visibility is being recognized at the District, State and National levels by the public representatives. The need for strengthening the linkages with the Common Service Centres and KVKs was stressed by Dr. Singh.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. N.S. Rathore, Vice-Chancellor, MPUA&T, Udaipur, Rajasthan urged for documenting the impacts of KVKs interventions and creating the KVKs’ visibility with proper planning, creation of infrastructure, providing proper services, patenting and publication of technology, etc.

Dr. B.R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana stated that the challenges are to be converted into opportunities like utilization of IT during the COVID-19 Pandemic, climate change to be addressed in a proper way, farm mechanization to be taken-up in a right perspective and self-employment generation to be triggered, etc., on sustainable income generation.

Dr. A.K. Tomar, Director, ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar, Rajasthan accentuated on strengthening the technology developer and user interface.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur urged the KVKs to take-up the activities in a planned manner to make the achievements visible to the stakeholders. He also stressed on taking-up the livestock component, natural farming, bee keeping, water conservation, ICT based Smart Villages with Public Private Partnership, farm mechanization and introduction of pulses in Rice-Wheat System, particularly, in Haryana in a befitting manner which will pave the way for betterment functioning of the KVKs and improvement of the farmers’ socio-economic conditions.

Around 7 Directors of Extension of State Agricultural Universities from Rajasthan and Haryana participated in the Workshop.
