Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) laid the Foundation Stone of Organic Farming Laboratory of the ICAR-Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research, Modipuram, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh today. The Director General was on his visit to the Institute.


Dr. Mohapatra monitored the field experiments on Organic Farming / Natural Farming at the Institute’s research farm. During his interaction with the scientists of ICAR-IIFSR; ICAR-CIRC and ICAR-CPRIC, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the DG emphasized on the national and international recognitions received by the ICAR for its outstanding contributions during the recent past. Dr. Mohapatra urged the scientists to efficiently and timely deliver their technologies to the needy stakeholders and also compile 100 years contributions of the Council for the aim of securing the food, nutrition, livelihood and environment of the nation.
The Director General also released a Publication on “Integrated and Organic Farming Systems for Himalayan Region” on the occasion.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management Division), ICAR inaugurated the Gas Chromatography Laboratory in the Institute. The DDG also interacted with the scientists of ICAR-IIFSR to streamline the research activities being run by the Institute and emphasized to focus on publications in high impact factor journals.
Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science), ICAR; Dr. Bhupendra Nath Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR; Dr. V.K. Pandey, ADG (Horticultural Science), ICAR and Dr. Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Director, ICAR-IIWBR were also present during the occasion.
About 200 participants including 65 scientists from all the three Institutions of ICAR located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh attended the Interaction Meeting.
