The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Dehradun, Uttarakhand and the 127 Eco Task Force, Dehradun jointly organized an Awareness Camp and Plantation Drive at the Village Saryana, Panchayat Khunna Alman in Jaunsar Region of Kalsi Block of Dehradun District, Uttarakhand today.
The programme was organized on the occasion of celebrating the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Foundation Day and Uttarakhand State’s Nature Worship and Environment Conservation Festival “Harela”.

Dr. M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun and Shri Rohit Srivastava, Commanding Officer, ETF, Dehradun jointly inaugurated the Plantation Drive.
Dr. Madhu highlighted the importance of plantation by the local community and social fencing to make the plantation work successful .
Shri Rohit Srivastava apprised the participants about the target of planting about 2 Lakhs different species of forest plants on 67 ha Panchayat land of the adopted villages.
More than 1,500 different species of the forest plants like Reetha, Kachnar, Oak, Aonla, Kapoor, Guava and Arjun were planted during the occasion.
The Soldiers of the ETF, Officials of ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun and Smt. Babita Chauhan, Village Pradhan along with the local farmers participated in the programme.
The programme was organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
