Agriculture Minister interacts with the Directors and Scientists of Pune-based ICAR Institutes

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare during his visit to Pune interacted with the Directors, and scientists of ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes, ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, ICAR-Directorate of Onion & Garlic Research, and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, here today.

Shri Chouhan lauded the advancements in grape research, particularly the expansion of grape cultivation in non-traditional areas, as well as improvements in quality, safety, and export potential. He also urged further research focused on developing new and enhanced varieties to boost climate resilience and marketability.

Dr Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR-NRCG, briefed about the expansion of grapes in non-traditional areas, the introduction of institute varieties in these areas, the clean plant programme, and residue monitoring activities of the institute which are substantially contributing to the export and enhancement of grape farmers’ income.
