The “27th Biennial Workshop of AICRPDA, 9th Annual Review Workshop of NICRA-AICRPDA and 10th Annual Review Workshop of NICRA-AICRPAM” organized by the ICAR-Central Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad from 2nd to 4th June, 2022 were inaugurated here today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh applauded the significant contributions made by AICRPDA and AICRPAM. He also suggested developing the methods / technologies / techniques for increasing the water & nutrient use efficiency, residue recycling enhancing soil organic matter, rainwater harvesting & efficient utilization, agroforestry systems resilience and carbon sequestration & knowledge sharing.
The Special Chief Guest, Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Telangana urged the scientists to plan models for the entire agri-food chains. He also stressed to focus on the entire gambit of soil-plant-animal-health continuum.

The Guest of Honor Dr. S. Bhaskar, ADG (Agronomy, Agroforestry & Climate Change), ICAR suggested focusing on developing agro-ecology specific farming systems technologies instead of productivity gains per unit area.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Y.G. Prasad, Director ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research, Nagpur, Maharashtra stressed on the need for managing the excess & deficit rainfall in the black soil areas and to test High Density Planting System (HDPS) in a holistic manner.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. C.R. Mehta, Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh urged for carrying out the collaborative research in farm mechanization in view of resource constraints.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. A.S. Panwar, Director, ICAR-IIFSR, Modipuram, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh appreciated the significant achievements made by AICRPDA and AICRPAM and also assured to work in tandem with the Projects.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad underlined the mandate, significant accomplishments of AICRPDA & AICRPAM and the outcome of the Projects.
Dr. G. Ravindra Chary, PC, AICRPDA highlighted the research progress, achievements and contributions of AICRPDA to the dryland agriculture research and development policy.
On the occasion, the Best Dryland Farmers from the various parts of the country and the Best Researchers were felicitated with Awards for their outstanding contributions in the field of dryland agriculture and Publications from AICRPDA Centres and AICRPAM were released.
The Directors and Project Coordinators from the various ICAR institutes, Experts in Thematic Areas, Scientists from ICAR-CRIDA, AICRPDA & AICRPAM and Farmers participated in the Workshops.
