638th Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of the country has come into existence under the aegis of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), here today.
The MoU between Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Assam Agricultural University has been executed by Dr A K Sikka, Deputy Director General (Agril. Extn.), ICAR and Dr K M Bujarbaruah, Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University in the presence of Dr S Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR and Shri Arvind R Kaushal, Addl Secretary, DARE & Secretary, ICAR.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra will function for promoting agricultural and allied sectors in the district Baksa of Assam. The district of Baksa has total geographical area of 2400 sq. km. and comprises 15 Development Blocks and 687 Villages. This KVK will be located at Village Dhepargaon, Mouza Kaurbha, Goreswar Revenue Circle for catering to the needs of the farming community of the district.
