A Model Training Course on “Improved Agricultural Machinery for Farm Mechanization and Entrepreneurship through Custom Hiring for Self-Employment Opportunities” (27 October – 3rd November 2015) was inaugurated at ICAR- Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal today. The programme is sponsored by Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India.
Dr. BS Bisht, Former Vice Chancellor, GBPUA&T, Pantnagar in his inaugural address stated that the topic of the training programme is very relevant, timely and useful for the extension functionaries and professionals working for extension and promotion of modern agriculture in general and for agricultural mechanization in particular. He said that there is need to promote entrepreneurship for enhanced income to farmers.
Dr. KK Singh, Director, ICAR-CIAE Bhopal emphasized on need for enhanced farm power availability for increased productivity and profitability. He stated that the agricultural mechanization is vital in view of shortage of farm labour and the custom hiring of agricultural machinery benefits both, the farmers as well as the entrepreneurs.
The main objective of the training is to introduce and create awareness among the extension functionaries of different states on recent agricultural engineering technologies for enhanced production and income generation through entrepreneurship.
About 21 Extension Officers from 11 States are participating in the programme.
