ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune, and Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur organized an HRD Training-Cum-Workshop on Extension Methodologies in the Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Sector at ICAR-ATARI Pune, today.

Dr. S. K. Roy, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune, highlighted the significance of livestock and allied sectors in agriculture, stating that an HRD workshop will assist ICAR-KVKs in updating animal husbandry developments and collaborating with common science centers to address farmers' issues.

Dr. K. D. Kokate, Former Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) ICAR, emphasised the need to enhance the capacities of ICAR-KVK scientists in the animal husbandry sector to train farmers and entrepreneurs. He spoke about the significance of animal components in rainfed agriculture, emphasizing the need for increased focus on rainfed fodder production, particularly for marginal and landless farmers.

Dr. Niteen Patil, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur, emphasized the need for integrating farming with animal components and urged KVKs to implement MAFSU technologies through field extension. He also accentuated the need to increase animal sector productivity through Livestock ‘FARMERS FIRST’ programmes.

Six experts delivered lectures about the latest technologies in the livestock, poultry, and fisheries sector. Dr. A.U. Bhikane, Director, (Ext. Education), MAFSU Nagpur, Dr. N.V. Kurkure, Director, Research, MAFSU Nagpur, and other officials were present during the programme.

A total of 120 participants attended the training programme.
