The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Morena, Madhya Pradesh in collaboration with the IFFCO organized the Mass Plantation Abhiyan and Farmers’ Goshthi to celebrate the 69th birth Anniversary of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today.
The Chief Guest, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj emphasized on the crop diversification, enhancing the farmer’s income from allied activities like Bee farming, diary, poultry, and fisheries with horticultural crops, etc. The Minister also stressed on adopting the organic farming. He urged the farmers to use the new technologies in agriculture and associate with the Krishi Vigyan Kendras for reaping more benefits.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. S.K. Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior encouraged the farmers for increasing the cropping intensity in Kharif and summer season. He also urged the farmers for adopting the new technologies developed by the RVSKVV and ICAR to improve the agriculture productivity and enhance their income.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR highlighted about the organization of the Plantation Abhiyan in all the 714 KVKs around the country. Dr. Singh also underlined the pivotal role played by the plantation in doubling the farmers’ income
Dr. U.S. Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO briefed about the IFFCO’s schemes for the farmers’ benefit.
Dr. Anupam Mishra, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-IX, Jabalpur; Dr S.N. Upadhyay, Director (Extension Services), RVSKVV, Gwalior; Dr. V.S. Tomar, Ex-Vice-Chancellor, JNKVV along with other Senior Officials of ICAR and other Institutes and Universities were also present on the occasion.
A total of 2,500 farmers and farmwomen of the district were distributed about 20,675 plants of Mango, Guava, Citrus, Neem, Bel, Aonla, Pakad, Jamun, Papal and Rudraksh for plantation.
