The ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums, Ranchi, Jharkhand virtually celebrated its “97th Foundation Day” today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Arunava Pattanayak, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Garkhatanga, Ranchi applauded the Institute’s scientists for the remarkable achievement in the field of the NRGs and lac. Highlighting the great potential of the fruit coating formulation developed by the Institute, he urged for its promotion on the commercial scale.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Head, ICAR-Farming System Research Centre for Hill and Plateau Region, Plandu, Ranchi also appraised the achievements and technologies developed and transferred by the Institute.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. K.K. Sharma, Director, ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi appraised the Institute’s expertise gained in the field of production, processing and value-addition of Lac and other Natural Resins and Gums.
While delivering the “10th Ms. Dorothy Norris Memorial Lecture” on “Chemistry of Insect Pheromones and their Application Technology (PAT) as an alternative to pesticides”, Dr. J.S. Yadav, Former Director, CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad illustrated the application of eco-friendly and environmentally safe pheromone technology in the agro practices in the country for the overall benefits of the agrarian society.
The occasion also marked the exchange of Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute and Chakriya Vikash Sansthan, Ormanjhi, Ranchi in the area of training on scientific lac cultivation for tribal farmers.
Dr. K.K. Sharma, Director, ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi and Shri Devendra Nath Thakur, Director, Chakriya Vikash Sansthan, Ormanjhi, Ranchi signed the MoU on the behalf of their respective organizations.
Dr. K.K. Singh, ADG (Farm Engineering), ICAR and Dr. S.N. Jha, ADG (Process Engineering), ICAR along with the other senior officials of ICAR and other Institutes also virtually participated in the programme.
