The ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai organized a “Phone-in-Programme (PiP)” to enable around 68 fish farmers / fisher folks / technicians Brackishwater Aquaculture farmers to interact with the subject matter specialists on the various subjects of Seabass, milkfish, Pearl spot Culture and its Farm Management Practices, shrimp culture, crab fattening, feeds and feed management, etc today.
Dr. K.K. Vijayan, Director, ICAR-CIBA underlined the importance of induced breeding in fishes and shrimps that paved the way for assured seed supply and sustainable aquaculture development in the country.
The ICAR-CIBA, Navsari, Gujarat Research Centre celebrated the National Fish Farmers’ Day at its Brackishwater Aquaculture Research and Development Farm (NGRC-BARD Farm) in Matwad Village, Navsari, Gujarat. The Chief Guest, Shri C.R. Patil, Member of Parliament, Navsari, Gujarat was apprised about the generation of revenue of Rs. 5 Lakhs by the Women Self-Help Group through the technological interventions of NGRC, ICAR-CIBA during 2019-20. Shri Patil also distributed the milkfish fingerlings raised by the SHG members to 10 shrimp farmers.
The Kakdwip Research Centre (KRC) of ICAR-CIBA celebrated the National Fish Farmers’ Day along with aqua farmers and fishers from Kakdwip, Namkhana, Patharpratima and Raidighi of South 24 Parganas, Sundarban. The KRC, ICAR-CIBA Farm produced fingerlings of Hilsa were distributed to the farmers for demonstration of grow-out culture at their farms for promoting the Hilsa Fish farming in the Sundarban region.
