ICAR–DWR, Pune Organizes Farmer–Scientist Interaction-cum-Awareness Programme on Balanced Use of Fertilizers

ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Pune organized a farmer–scientist interaction-cum-awareness programme on ‘Balanced Use of Fertilizers’ at Scheduled Caste dominated Raithra village of Patan block in Jabalpur district.

The programme focused on creating awareness among farmers regarding the importance of balanced fertilizer use, Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), green manuring, biofertilizers, crop diversification, and inclusion of leguminous crops in crop rotations for improving soil health, enhancing crop productivity, and ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability.

The scientists and experts also emphasized the importance of effective weed management practices for improving fertilizer use efficiency and minimizing nutrient losses in crop production systems.

During the interactive session, participating farmers actively engaged with the scientists and expressed keen interest in adopting balanced fertilization and Integrated Nutrient Management practices for sustainable agricultural production.

Senior officials actively contributed to the successful organization and conduct of the awareness programme through effective farmer interactions and extension activities.

A total of 34 farmers, including 22 male and 12 female participants, along with the Sarpanch of the village, attended and actively participated in the programme.
