Shri Anup Wadhawan, Secretary, Commerce and Industry, Government of India inaugurated the 5th Edition of “Vibrant North East - 2019" today.
Shri M.K. Mero, Principal Secretary, Horticulture, Government of Nagaland; Dr. M. Premjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CAU; Shri K.N. Raghvan, Chairman, Rubber Board; Shri Arun Kumar Roy, Dy Chairman, Tea Board; Smt. Lalthanpuii Vanchhong, Joint Secretary, Government of Manipur; Dr. Anis Ansari, I.A.S., Chairman, CARD; Shri P.L. Thanga Chairman, ICFA Council for NER and Dr. A.K. Srivastva, Project Director, CARD also marked their presence as the Guests of Honor during the occasion.
The event was organized by the Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) and Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Manipur with the support of Government of Manipur at the College of Agriculture, CAU, Iroisemba, Imphal from 19th to 21st June, 2019.
The main aim of the event was to provide the youth, women NGOs and development agencies with a chance to interact with the national level institutions, industry, experts and officials.
A Development Meet on “Investment potential and business opportunities in North East” was also organized during the occasion. The various avenues for the business, investment and export potential of the North Eastern region were discussed during the meet.
To identify the industries and map out the details for the investment in the various areas - opportunity for cross-border trade with neighbouring countries, Government initiatives for development of North Eastern Region, abundant possibilities for taking up the tourism activities in the region, opportunities for plantation & processing of aromatic/medicinal plants, etc., were some of the main aims of the meet.
The Development Meet registered a total footfall by more than 45 experts including 5 participants from Bangladesh.
More than 500 farmers from the different Districts of Manipur registered their participation in the event.
