Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General ICAR chaired a meeting of KPMG representatives and ICAR officials today to discuss the ICT (Information Communications Technology) Roadmap for ICAR.
Dr. Mohapatra said that ICAR is looking forward to consolidate and strengthen their existing ICT initiatives for better monitoring, improving efficiency, optimize cost and human resources having sync with ICT policy and security guidelines of Government of India. The strategy should cover all applications of ICAR along with databases in a synchronous or archival manner as per the requirement of these applications. The strategy should be developed taking in cognizance of ongoing activities in ICAR institutes, ICAR Headquarters and the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE).
DG, ICAR mentioned that ICT Roadmap of ICAR should match the International Standards and emphasized for the development of policy guidelines for data standardization, digitalization, security and implementation keeping in view of 10 years perspective.
Shri Sushil Kumar, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) urged to examine the pros and cons of Enterprise Architecture and the status of its implementation in other organization.
Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General,(Agricultural Engineering), Dr. J.P. Mishra, ADG, ICT, Dr. T Janakiram, ADG, (HS-I), Dr. SK Singh, PD, DKMA, and KPMG representatives were also present in the meeting.
KPMG Advisory Services Private Ltd presented the summary of ICT Roadmap for ICAR. Their presentation referred to the challenges of technology standardization, process improvement & optimization, cost efficiency, and organizational impact.
