Shri Giriraj Singh, Union Mister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying applauded the Institute’s efforts for developing the several varieties and technologies for the farmers of Eastern region of the country. Shri Singh stressed upon the need to enhance the farmers’ income through the adoption of new technologies.

In his Foundation Day Lecture, Dr. Panjab Singh, Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi outlined the challenges for the scientific community on feeding the increasing population and conservation of degrading natural resources like soil and water and doubling the farmers’ income. Dr. Singh stressed on the need for technology development, infrastructure support and improving the access to technology to the farming community for resolving the challenges. He also highlighted the need to enhance water use efficiency and increase fertilizer use efficiency. During his visit to Sabajpuram of ICAR, he inaugurated the Pulse Seed Hub.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. B.P. Bhatt, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna highlighted about the release of two rice varieties "Swarna Shakti" and "Swarna Samridhi" developed by the Institute during the last year. He also outlined the Institute’s achievements in terms of various agricultural, horticultural, livestock and fisheries technologies.

Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna; Dr. H.P. Singh, Former Deputy Director General (Horticultural Sciences), ICAR and Dr. Vishal Nath, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Litchi also marked their presence as the Guests of Honor.

The scientists also provided the expert advisories to the farmers on the agricultural issues in the Farmers'-Scientists’-Interaction Session organized during the occasion.

More than 700 farmers including scientists and officials participated in the event.
