Dhanya Mahotsav 2017 (Food Grain Festival) (7-9th April 2017) was inaugurated by Smt Pornima Taware, Mayor, Baramati Municipal Corporation and Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute today. The event was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baramati.
The objective of the event is to bring the farmers and consumers on one platform, where the farmers could directly sell their product to consumers avoiding middle men/traders.
KVK identified farmers to ensure the availability of variety of farm produce in the festival depending on the consumers’ demand. Due to this initiative, farmers from 9 different blocks from four districts viz. Pune, Satara, Sangli and Solapur are participating in the food grain festival since last 4 years with their farm produce. Local Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) is providing the infrastructure for this event.
In this event, 53 stalls of Farmers, SHG's, Farmer Producer Companies, Farmers Clubs was put up.
