ALL INDIA ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR THE AWARD OF ICAR's J.R.F. AND ADMISSION TO MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN THE FIELD OF AGRICULTURE, VETERINARY AND ALLIED SCIENCES FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2004-05 Applications are invited for the All India Entrance Examination for the award of ICAR's Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and admission to 100% seats of Master's Degree programme at IARI, IVRI, CIFE, NDRI and 25% seats at all the SAU's, CAU, and Central Universities in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary & Allied Sciences for the Academic Session 2004-2005. The details of the Major Subject Groups and the Subject areas have been given in the Information Bulletin. The Fellowships are tenable in Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institutes based Deemed-to-be-Universities, and other institutions namely BHU Varanasi, AMU Aligarh, Vishwa Bharti, and AAI DU Allahabad. There are 475 Fellowships (JRF) in total in 19 major subject areas which will be awarded based on merit rank of the candidate in this examination and subject area. The Fellowships at present are at the rate of Rs. 5,000/- per month for graduates of Veterinary Science and Rs. 3,600/- per month for graduates in other disciplines for a period of two years with a contingent grant of Rs. 6,000/- per annum for all as per approved norms. 15% seats and JRF are reserved for S.C., 7.5% for S.T. and 3% for Physically Handicapped candidates. The admission as well as JRF will be given only to those candidates who join the Master's Degree Programme in a University/ Institute other than from where he/ she has obtained Bachelor's Degree except NDRI, Karnal. DATE AND VENUE OF THE EXAMINATION: Examination will be held on 13 June, 2004 (Sunday) from 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. at 26 different Examination Centres all over the country as specified in the Information Bulletin. Candidates from Andaman and Nicobar Islands can opt for Centre at Port Blair. In no case, even of JRF, claims for reimbursement of travel expenses or cost/ loss of any kind incurred by the candidate or the guardian for attending the Examination, Counseling, and reporting for admission will be entertained. The ICAR/ Universities will not reimburse such claims/ costs. ELIGIBILITY: Candidates having passed their Bachelor's Degree (or appearing in final year examination during the year 2004), in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science, Sericulture, Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Forestry, Agri. Marketing, Banking and Cooperation, Food Science & Technology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Basic, and Allied Sciences under 10+2+4 (most seats) or 10+2+3 (only few seats) are eligible to apply for the combined examination for JRF and admission to Master's Degree Programme as per norms of participating Universities. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or its equivalent OGPA for general category and 55% marks or its equivalent OGPA for SC, ST and Physically Handicapped category. For admission in the subject of Veterinary Sciences, candidates must have completed B.V.Sc. & A.H. with Internship before the date of registration in the University or December 31, 2004 which so ever is earlier. He/ She should be an Indian National and should be completing minimum 19 year of age as on 31.8.2004. The candidate who are likely to appear in the Bachelor's Degree Examination in the year 2004 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission test, but they will have to submit documentary evidence from the Registrar of the University of their having acquired eligibility on the date of Counseling. Non-submission of documentary evidence of the completion of the Degree and attaining eligibility by due date will disqualify the candidate. Most of the participating Universities/ Institutes in this Examination require four years U.G. degree. However, Graduates from Non-agricultural Stream are also eligible for admission to Master's Degree Programme only in few specified subjects in the limited Universities/ Institutes. For such candidates, if admitted, the duration of Master's Degree Programme would be of 3 years at IARI and some other Universities as the 1st year will be for completing remedial courses in Agriculture and no fellowship would be paid during the first year to such candidates. Information Bulletins with Application Forms will be available for sale from 25th March, 2004 up to 30th April, 2004 and can be obtained against Cash payment of Rs. 500/- + Rs. 10/- (Sale Charges) for General Category, and Rs. 250/- + Rs. 10/- (Sale Charges) for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Physically Handicapped Category from the offices of the Registrars of State Agricultural Universities, CAU, Imphal and Syndicate Bank, K.A.B. Extension Counter, Pusa, New Delhi - 110 012. The Bank and Agricultural Universities and ICAR Institutes will not send the Information Bulletin by Post. Hence, no request should be made to them for sending the Information Bulletin by post. Information Bulletins with Application Forms can also be obtained by post from 25th March, 2004 up to 20th April, 2004 by sending a written request along with a Bank Draft of Rs. 550/- (Rs. 500/- as cost of Information Bulletin with Application Form + Rs. 50/- towards postage and handling charges) for General Category and Rs. 300/- (Rs. 250/- as cost of Information Bulletin with Application Form + Rs. 50/- towards postage and handling charges) for S.C., S.T., and P.H. candidates. The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of "Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR" payable at New Delhi. A self addressed envelope (Size 12" x 10") without postal stamps should be sent with an application on plain paper and the Bank Draft to "The Controller of Examination, Education Division, Room No. 226, ICAR, KAB-II, Pusa, New Delhi - 110 012". The requests received for the Information Bulletins and Application Forms by post after 20th April, 2004 will not be entertained. The candidate may write the details of his/ her name and address on the back of the Bank Draft. It may be checked that the Bank Draft contains the name of the issuing bank and branch, signature of the issuing authority, amount in words, date of draft etc. clearly. The Information Bulletin with Application Forms may also be obtained personally from 25th March 2004 up to 30th April, 2004 by depositing Bank Draft without postage and handling charges at the sale counter of the specified places as given below.
The last date for the receipt of Application Forms in the office of "The Controller of Examinations, Education Division, Room No.226, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi - 110 012" is 10th May, 2004. However for the candidates belonging to the remote areas viz. Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of J&K State, Lahaul & Spiti District and Pangi Sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, the last date is 20th May, 2004. Application Forms received after the last date will be rejected and Education Division shall not responsible for non-receipt of application within the time scheduled due to Postal delay or any other reason for delay. All disputes relating to the conduct of this examination or any matter connected with this advertisement shall be in the jurisdiction of DELHI COURT only. Controller of Examinations |
