Shri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh inaugurated 24th Annual Zonal Workshop of KVKs of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand (8-10 June, 2017) at ICAR- ATARI, Kanpur today.
The Chief Minister said that farmer should be on priority of government’s agenda for development. He emphasized that soil health card scheme, started by Hon’ble Prime Minister has targeted all fourteen crore farmers and it impact is being felt by them now. Shri Adityanath urged the agricultural scientists to play important role in doubling the income of farmers by providing relevant technologies. He also called upon the scientist to do research on climate change which is a challenge for agriculture.
Shri Yogi visited exhibition and interacted with the scientists on technologies displayed by then for respective agro climate zones of both the states. He also inaugurated the newly constructed conference Hall of the institute.
Shri Yogi Adityanath awarded five farmers of the state for their outstanding achievements in integrated farming system, productivity enhancement and income augumentation by them.
Sri Surya Pratap Shahi, Agriculture Minister; Shri Satya Dev Pachauri, Cabinet Minister; MOS, Agriculture, Sri Rahvendra Pratap Singh, Member of Parliament, Sri Bhole Singh and local MLAs graced the inaugural ceremony.
Dr. A.K.Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) informed that twenty new KVKs will be established in near future.
Shri Surya Pratap Shahi, Agriculture Minister,called upon the KVK to work with state line departments for welfare of farmers.
Shri Rahvendra Pratap Singh, State Agriculture Minister also spoke on the occasion.
The annual progress report of ICAR-ATARI (2016-17) and other publications were also released by the dignitaries.
