Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated the Administrative Building of ICAR –Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tamenglong District, Manipur here today. In his inaugural address, he said the KVK, Tamenglong will fulfil the requirements of the farmers in this region, by improving their lives and ensuring livelihood security. He also stated that the KVK, Tamenglong would be earmarked for training of 2000 farmers every year in various vocations and would ensure that the benefits of technology reached them. He stressed on developing horticultural practices in the region, improving value addition and meeting the target of doubling farmers’ income in the next five years i.e. by 2022. It is envisaged that setting up and an operationalisation of KVK, Tamenglong would be a strategic developmental step to ensure overall agricultural development of the region.
