Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Shri Arjun Ramji Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs visited ICAR-National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner today.
Shri Singh, in his address, applauded the scientists of the ICAR-NRC Camel for getting approval from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for camel milk, which will pave way for its successful trading and establishing Camel milk as a business. He suggested scientists to undertake focussed research to improve the milk yield potential of camel by better breeding and management of nutrition, health and reproduction issues. He appreciated scientists for their research achievements and for collaborative attempts to bring out diagnostic kit for Thyroid cancer with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and prove camel as a model for Biomedical Research. He advised that under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav extension programme the cohesive and collective efforts are needed to transfer the technologies developed by centre to the farmers and stressed that the local public representatives of the area may be apprised for establishing direct contact with the farmers and effective technology dissemination.
Sh. Arjun Ramji Meghwal while lauding the efforts of NRCC suggested to develop forward and backward linkages with industries and Camel famers by working in close coordination with state AH officials.
Dr. N.V. Patil, Director, ICAR-NRCC briefed about research progress of the centre. He said the camel milk because of its’ therapeutic value in management of diabetes and adjuvant food value in Autism and other human diseases have created confidence in Camel farmers to start Camel milk trading which will help in improving their socio-economic status.
The staff of all ICAR institutes located in Bikaner were also present on the occasion.
