Shri P. V. Velayudan (Director, MSME-DI, Thrissur) inaugurated Industry day at Central Plantation Crops Research Institute. Shri Velayudan called upon to make use of the new initiatives of the Government of India on strengthening entrepreneurship in the country. He also highlighted various schemes of micro-, small-,and medium- enterprises (MSME) department for the upcoming entrepreneurs.
By organizing an Institute-Industry Interface, ‘Dream BIG-KALPA2017’ under the auspices of Agri-Business Incubation Centre (NAIF), Dr P. Chowdappa (Director, CPCRI) flagged off issues related to competitive production of value added products for successful marketing. Dr Chowdappa briefly described the various activities of CPCRI that are having direct relevance to the policy formulations and technology up-scaling.
Shri Jyotis Jagannathan (DGM, NABARD) talked about credit availability and Shri D. Rajendran (General Manager, DIC, Kasaragod) focused on assistance available from Industry Department for starting business ventures.
Shri C. M. Kamaraj (Industrialist, Coimbatore) appraised about emerging domestic and international markets for coconut products like virgin coconut oil (VCO) and coconut milk. Dr K. Muralidharan (Principal Scientist, CPCRI) made a presentation on commercially important technologies developed at Central Plantation Crops Research Institute.
Memoranda of Agreements were signed for transfer of 12 technologies such as ‘kalparasa and sugar’, VCO, coconut chips, ‘KalpaKrunch’ etc. during the interface. Industry day was observed by entrepreneurs, industrialists and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) from Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Tamil Nadu.
