The Foundation Stone laying ceremony of the CISH-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malda was held on January 21, 2017 at ICAR-CISH Regional Research Station, Malda, West Bengal. Dr. A. K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension & Horticulture Science) laid the foundation stone in presence of Swami Viswamayananda (Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Sargachi), and other distinguished dignitaries.
Dr. Singh, underlined the importance of the upcoming CISH-KVK and its possible future role and services for the well being of farming community at large. He firmly believed that ICAR-CISH will play a pivotal role in the tribal development programme being implemented at various villages.
Dr. S. Rajan, Director, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow highlighted the achievements of ICAR-CISH, Lucknow besides expatiating upon the future plans of ICAR-CISH-Regional Research Station and CISH-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malda. On this occasion, Swami Viswamayananda Ji emphasized the need to develop human character for development of agriculture in general and horticulture in particular.
Dr. Randhir Singh, ADG (Agricultural Extension), Dr. P. K. Chakrabarty, ADG (PP&B), Prof. S. K. Mitra and Dr. S. K. Roy also expressed their valuable views. Inauguration of Seed Hub for Pulses and Rabi Krishi Mela cum Adibasi Kishan Sammelan were also organized during the occasion. The function was attended by 850 farmers including 550 tribal famers.
