National Centre for Integrated Pest Management (NCIPM), New Delhi is organising a three-day (20-22 November, 2013) training programme on integrated pest management in major field and horticultural crops of Tripura region.
The programme was inaugurated on 20th November, 2013 at Pragyan Bhawan, Agartala. Dr. Baharul Islam Majumder, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, Government of Tripura urged trainees to take the best possible advantage of the programme
Dr. P.K. Chakarborty, Assistant Director General (Plant Protection), ICAR appreciated the efforts of ICAR institutes for the NEH Region. He urged farmers to be the new ambassador of IPM and promote the various eco-friendly crop management packages for field and horticultural crops.
Dr. C. Chattopadhyay, Director, NCIPM, New Delhi informed future plans of NCIPM for the NEH region in general and the state of Tripura in particular while, Dr. M. Datta, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre emphasized upon the need of the IPM training programme and suggested appropriate measures for sustainable crop protection through IPM strategies.
Over 75 field functionaries of the state are participating in the training programme.
Dr. Mukesh Sehgal, Principal Scientist, NCIPM proposed the vote of thanks.
