The Regional Research Centre, Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (RRC-CIFA), Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat organized one day Research-Extension-Farmers Interface meeting on Carp Seed Rearing at KVK, Devataj on 10th October, 2013.
Dr. P. Jayasankar, Director, CIFA, Bhubaneswar inaugurated the meeting. In his address, he emphasized upon the need of quality seed for better fish production. Dr. Jayasankar informed that CIFA being the leading organization in freshwater aquaculture has taken up the programme to sensitize the state governments and other stakeholders on importance of producing and using quality fish seed.
Shri G.C. Vakani, Deputy Director of Fisheries, Vadodara highlighted the importance of quality seed production and their rearing to achieve higher production goal in future.
Dr. V.R. Boghara, Assistant Director, Extension Education, AAU, Anand and Dr. G.G. Patel, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Devataj were also present on the occasion.
Inaugural function was followed by a technical session on various aspects of carp seed rearing. The interactive session also took a note on farmers’ feedback and their requirement.
Earlier, Dr. C.K. Misra, Scientist, In-Charge, RRC-CIFA, Anand welcomed the dignitaries and informed the gathering about the programme.
More than fifty farmers, line department officials, research scientists from AAU, Anand participated in this programme. Participants also visited farm of Raoji Bhai, Devataj, Anand where a demonstration programme on carp seed rearing by the centre was being carried out.
Dr. S. Sarkar, Scientist, RRC-CIFA, Anand proposed the vote of thanks.
