A training programme on water management in cold arid region of Leh was organized by newly established regional research station of Central Arid Zone Research Insitute (CAZRI) at Satkna, Leh in collaboration with SKUAST-K and its KVK on July 25, 2013.
The programme convenor Dr. R.K. Goyal, Principal Scientist and I/c CAZRI-RRS-Leh emphasized upon water management issues in cold arid region of Ladakh. Dr. M. S. Mir, Associate Director (Research) at SKUAST-K Station, Leh; Dr. D. Namgyal, Project Coordinator, KVK, Leh and Mr. Tsering Tundup from LNP also presented their valuable remarks.
Topics covered under this programme were Use of Plasticulture in Agriculture, Watershed Management, Green House Technology for Vegetable Cultivation, Soil and Water Conservation etc. An Open House Discussion Session was also organized where farmers expressed their need for improved seeds.
Total 74 participants representing various line departments viz., Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Ladakh Environmental and Health Organisation (LEHO), Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG), Ladakh Nutritional Project (LNP), Command Area Development (CAD) and farmers from nearby villages participated in the training program.
