Shri Tariq Anwar, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Government of India reviewed the activities of ICAR Institutes and Centres located in Bihar on 3rd August, 2013 at ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna.
Shri Anwar expressed his happiness upon the activities and research initiatives of the ICAR institutes and centres working in the eastern region, especially in Bihar. He urged scientists to work for the betterment of small and marginal farmers in respect of food security, profitability and sustainability. Shri Anwar suggested that research activities should be oriented to attract rural youth in agriculture. He released a book entitled "Status of Agriculture Development in Eastern India".
Dr. A. K. Sikka, DDG (NRM) elaborated the ICAR initiatives on climate resilient agriculture operational in eastern states through different KVKs and agriculture institutes. Earlier, Dr. B.P.Bhatt, Director, ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region welcomed the dignitaries with a brief on centre’s activities.
Dr. Vishal Nath, Director, NRC for litchi; Dr. A.K. Singh, ZPD, Zone-II, Kolkata; Head, IARI, Regional Station, Pusa; Head, Central Potato Research Station, Patna; Head, Crop Improvement, IISR, Lucknow also participated in the event.
