A one-day workshop on ‘IARI Post Office Linkage Model for transfer of agricultural technologies’ was organized on 11th April, 2013 at Division of Agricultural Extension, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. Dr. K.D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, speaking as chief guest said that this workshop is a historical event for the scientists and extension professionals of IARI who have trodden the new path in development of innovative extension approach to reach the unreached in far flung areas. He called upon the participating scientists drawn from 50 KVKs to be the active partners in scaling up the project to 12 states of India.
Dr. H.S. Gupta, Director, IARI, who originally conceived the idea of this innovative extension model, presided over the event and showed his concern for improving the efficiency of extension system of the country so that the technologies developed by the agricultural research system reach the field. Sh. Vinod Kumar, Assistant Superintendent of Post assured all possible help from the Postal Department at national level.
The major objective of the workshop was to discuss the successful experiences of “IARI-Post Office linkage model” for transfer of farm technologies and to work out mechanism to upscale it to different parts of the country. The workshop was attended by more than 100 participants including Branch Post Masters, KVK scientists, farmers and scientists from ICAR.
