DRWA (Directorate of Research on Women in Agriculture) organized field Day on Protected Cultivation of vegetable crops for farm women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Dr. Krishna Srinath, former Director, DRWA inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural address, Dr. Srinath emphasized upon the role of horticulture in entrepreneurship development and women empowerment.
Dr. M.P.S. Arya, Director (Acting), DRWA discussed the focus areas of the Directorate to improve the economic conditions of rural women through technological interventions. He informed that Directorate organizes capacity building programme in various horticultural aspects for gender mainstreaming.
Dr. A. K. Shukla, Dr. Kundan Kishore and Smt. Anusaya Baura, Gram Panchayat President were also present on the occasion.
Protected cultivation technologies for off season cultivation of high value crops like cucumber and tomato were also demonstrated on the field day for income enhancement and nutritional security of farm women. More than 50 farm women attended the programme.
