Shri Tariq Anwar, Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries, Government of India inaugurated Swarnrekha Kisan Bhawan and Kisan Gosthi at ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Ranchi here today. While addressing the gathering, Shri Anwar stressed upon development of modern agricultural techniques and their effective extension to farmers’ fields for increasing agricultural production. He also emphasized on the proactive role of state government in implementation of different schemes of Govt. of India for agricultural development. Shri Anwar also discussed other issues on agriculture like climate change, water management and conservation, food processing etc.
Earlier, Dr. B.P. Bhatt, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna welcomed the dignitaries and informed about the achievements of the Institute including release of 37 varieties of different vegetable crops by the centre.
In the Kisan Gosthi, the farmers actively participated in discussion on “Impact of climate change on horticultural crops”. They expressed their views on different adaptation strategies followed by them to tackle the problems of extreme weather conditions like frost, high temperature, drought and heavy rainfall. Progressive farmers were also felicitated for their outstanding work on promotion of improved horticultural technologies developed by the Institute.
Shri Parimal Nathwani, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Shri Arun Kumar Singh (IAS), Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Sugarcane Development, Govt. of Jharkhand and Shri S. Sarwawel, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Jharkhand were also present on the occasion.
