Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR inaugurated the Administrative building of KVK, Kaushambi and dedicated it to the farmers of the region on 26th January, 2013. While addressing the farmers attending Farmers Fair and Exhibition, he emphasized creation of a scientific temper supported well with the availability of required information and inputs to the farmers and market environment so that farmers could get an assured income on the small holdings possessed by most of them. Dr. Ayyappan visited different demonstration units created at KVK and a cluster demonstration of 50 ha organized with one variety of wheat KRL-19 for salt affected areas.
On this occasion, Dr. AK Singh, Zonal Project Director, Kanpur welcomed the gathering and cited some of the successes of KVK in harnessing about 45 q/ha from CSR-36 of paddy variety from the soils having pH around 8.8-9.0. Efforts of KVK in terms of growing crops in sodic soils, promotion of banana, basmati rice and training of large no. of SHGs of Swarna Jayanti Swarojgar Yojana were cited by him.
Sri Amitabh Garg, Secretary of host Institution presented a brief account of achievements and urged for channelizing seed production activity with farmers’ participation in the district.
On 27th Jan, 2013, Dr. S. Ayyappan visited different activity sites of Deendayal Research Institute at Chitrakoot created in remote areas. Responding to farmers worries in getting good prices for their produce, he suggested for group farming in which each farmer may assume separate role like input manager,farm operation manager, marketing manager etc.
