Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research organized 2nd Innovator farmers meet on December 26, 2012. Fifty farmers from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh participated in the programme.
Dr. K.D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Ag. Extension), ICAR was chief guest. Addressing the innovative farmers, he called for crop diversification and integrated farming involving horticultural crops and animal husbandry for increasing farm profitability with sustenance. He stressed the need for attracting youth in agriculture.
Dr. P. N. Kalla, Director (Extension) suggested farmers to have positive attitude towards scientific cultivation and also suggested that innovator farmers should educate others especially through KVKs.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Zonal Project Director, (zone II) and Dr. Y.V. Singh, Zonal Project Director (zone VI) informed the participants about cadre of master farmers trainers for imparting trainings. Both encouraged the farmers to take advantage of this meet in terms of exchanging ideas through interaction among farmers, scientists and development personnel.
Dr. J.S. Chauhan, Director, DRMR presented an overview of rapeseed-mustard research in the country highlighting achievements of the Directorate.
Later, Dr. Kokate presented awards to 6 innovative farmers.
A 5-day state level training programme for 25 farmers from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana on Rapeseed-Mustard Production technology was inaugurated by Dr. K. D. Kokate.
