Dr K.D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR participated in farmers fair and exhibition organized at KVK, Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh) and addressed farmers, officers of line departments and other stake holders participating in the event. While addressing he urged all to work in an integrated manner so that the platform of KVK could be utilized to the fullest in taking new technologies to the doorsteps of the farmers. He cited the contribution of the state of Uttar Pradesh in case of food grains production, potato and sugarcane in particular and advised for raising the productivity of different commodity as shown by the state of Haryana in case of wheat (52 q/ha).
Dr. A.K. Singh, Zonal Project Director, Zone-IV, Kanpur briefed about the achievements made by KVKs in eastern Uttar Pradesh, specially bringing large area under resource conservation technologies, creating awareness among farmers about new technologies, bringing diversification in rice-wheat system, fast expansion of poultry, and mobile advisories. The progressive farmers also shared their views in respect of cultivation of flowers, success of Zero Tillage, Nursery as an economic enterprise and farmers groups as effective instruments for technology dissemination.
