Shri S.S. Ahluwalia, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of India visited ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna today.
Shri Ahluwalia, in his address, urged scientists to initiate target oriented work strictly adhering to time frame. As a nodal institute of Second Green Revolution in eastern states, he stressed on the need to work for the poor farmers of all the eastern states keeping in view their economic status and nutritional needs. He also expressed his concern about damage of crop by Blue Bulls. He desired that students should be attracted to agriculture through their visits to the research institutions.
He later visited the experimental farm and animal shed and interacted with the scientists about the ongoing research programme of the institute. He lauded the integrated farming system models developed by the institute and emphasised that these types of models are need of the hour for all eastern states where farmers are facing natural calamities. He stressed on the need for research efforts on Snell farming and Emu farming for supply of low cost protein.
Earlier, Dr. B.P.Bhatt, Director, ICARREER briefed about the major activities and achievements of the institute.
