Shri. Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare visited ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Ela, Old Goa today to review the research activities of ICAR-CCARI and different schemes for farmers by Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Goa. In his address, Shri. Rupala stressed upon studying the impact of adoption of soil health cards to improve the crop yields and reduction in use of the fertilizers through advises on application of organic manures. He also suggested to link all the soil health cards with the Krishi Cards of the farmers. He appreciated the research and development on bio-agents for disease management and biofertilizers and stressed on its use to reduce the fertilizer and pesticide use wherever possible. He also he emphasized on creating awareness among farmers about the newly developed technologies by the Institute and its implementation in cluster of villages to demonstrate its impact.
Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa briefed about the recent research activities of the Institute.
Shri. Chintamani Perni, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Goa presented activities and schemes being implemented for the benefit of farmers.
On this occasion, the Institute Newsletter was released by the dignitaries.
The dignitaries visited the exhibition of technologies and publications arranged by different sections of the Institute. This was followed by a visit to experimental fields, different animal units and Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Senior Officials of Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Goa, officials and staff of ICAR were present in the event.
