Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated Plant Hardening Facilities at the ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur today. While addressing the staff of the Institute he emphasized to enhance the efforts to intensify on-going research on various issues related to arid zone ecosystem and to supplement the efforts to deliver the technology to farmers.
ICAR Governing Body members Shri S.K. Bhargava, Shri R.P. Singh and Shri Suresh Chandel were also present on the occasion and appreciated the effort of the Institute on seed production of mungbean and mothbean.
Dr. Mohapatra was accompanied by Shri. Sunil Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor (DARE/ICAR), Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering), Dr. Jeet Singh Sandhu, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), Dr. A.K.Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension Dr. Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries), Directors of ICAR Institutes and Senior Officers of ICAR Headquarters.
Earlier, Dr. OP Yadav, Director, ICAR-CAZRI briefed about the research activities of the institutes.
Plant Hardening Facility will be utilized for hardening the plants raised through tissue culture and growing of plants during offseason. With the establishment of this facility, current annual capacity of supplying 60,000 plants by the Central Nursery of institute would be further strengthen and delivery of quality planting material to farmers would be enhanced.
