ICAR - Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi organized Labharthi Kisan Sammelan, here today.
Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated the event and in his address emphasized to make available irrigation to each and every field and also requested farmers to adopt soil and water conservation technologies. He elaborated upon several farmer oriented schemes such as Soil Health Card, Crop Insurance and enhanced Minimum Support Price (MSP) etc. and urged the farmers to take the benefit of these schemes.
Agriculture Minister also interacted and reviewed line departments, ICAR institutes and KVKs with special reference to Bundelkhand region and specific schemes.
He also held a special session with the print and electronic media.
Shri Babul Supriyo, Union Minister of State Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, in his address as Special Guest, stressed that government will leave no stone unturned for welfare of farmers.
Shri Mahesh Giri, Member of Parliament and Shri Ravi Sharma, Member of Legislative Assembly also gracde the occasion.
About 450 farmers from surrounding villages of Jhansi and nearby districts, who are the beneficiary of Mera Gaon Mera Gorav (MGMG), Adarsh Chara Gram, NICRA, IGFRI-CIWA collaborative project, ICARDA-Grasspea, DST sponsored project, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and other farmer oriented schemes of the institute and CAFRI, participated in this programme. Dr. P.K. Ghosh, Director, IGFRI, Jhansi welcomed all the guest and farmers and explained the activities and achievements of Institute.
