Dr. K.D. Kokate, DDG (AE), ICAR visited KVK, Bathinda on 8.9.2012 along with Dr. A.M. Narula, ZPD, Zone-I; Dr. M.S. Gill, DEE, PAU and Dr. V.P. Chahal, Principal Scientist, ICAR Headquarter, New Delhi. The team visited the instructional farm of KVK and also saw the demonstration units of Dairy, Farm Machinery and Bee keeping. Dr. Kokate and others also interacted with the farmers, farm women and ex-trainees of KVK and listened to their problems. He congratulated the KVK team for involving the farmers from all blocks of the district including army men in the training programmes. The Programme Coordinator of KVK apprised the various activities undertaken by the KVK. The DDG (AE) expressed his satisfaction with regard to various activities of Home Science scientist for women empowerment and advised her to document this work. Dr. Kokate remarked that the farmers should give emphasis on post harvest processing and value addition and brand their products for increasing the profitability. He informed that all efforts are being made to increase the number of Subject Matter Specialists in the KVKs. He also distributed certificates to trainees of the KVK. Thereafter, the team visited the farm of Sh. Gurcharan Singh Mann, awardee of N G Ranga Rao award, at village Tungwali and appreciated the efforts of Sh. Mann in diversification.
