Dr Mangala Rai, Secretary (DARE) and DG (ICAR) inaugurated 'National Workshop on Agricultural Biosecurity' today, i.e. 25 March 2008 at the NASC Complex, New Delhi. In his inaugural address, he emphasized that introduction of exotic diseases and pests in plants and livestock from across the geographical borders needs to be fully checked out. To avoid the introduction of these diseases and pests, strong surveillance and quarantine measures are to be rigorously followed at the entry point. And their continuous monitoring and management should be carried out as a team work. He also emphasized to prioritize researchable issues, develop infrastructure and capacity building in Agricultural Biosecurity to make biosure India.
