The Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) was established on
1st April 1987, by reorganisation of Fisheries Research Institutes under
ICAR. The Madras Research Centre, Kakdwip Research Centre and Puri Research
Centre of the erstwhile Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute,
Barrackpore and the Narakkal Research Centre of the Central Marine Fisheries
Research Institute, Kochi, were transferred to CIBA in 1987. The
headquarters of the Institute was set up at Chennai with field and farm
facilities at Muttukadu about 30 km south of Chennai. The Institute
presently has two research centres located at Kakdwip (West Bengal) and Puri
(Orissa). |
