• Improvement in lac insects and lac host plants for quality and productivity.

• Developing of sustainable lac production technologies on conventional and promising lac hosts, including farming system approach.

• To collect, conserve, maintain and evaluate lac insect and host plants field gene bank.

• Evaluation and refinement of lac production technologies under different agro-climatic conditions.

• To act as a repository of information on bio-diversity of lac host plants, lac insects and production technologies.
