Under the nationwide “Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026”, the ICAR–National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms, Mau, Uttar Pradesh organized a series of farmer awareness and extension programmes in villages of Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, from 6–8 June 2026 to promote sustainable and science-based agricultural practices.
On 6 June 2026, the ICAR-NBAIM team conducted an awareness programme at Dhawariyasath village in Kopaganj Block, where 40 farmers, including 18 men and 22 women, participated. Farmers were sensitized on the importance of beneficial microorganisms in improving soil health, nutrient availability, crop productivity, and environmental sustainability.
Subsequently, on 8 June 2026, awareness programmes were organized in Abbupur and Bhawarkol villages of Kopaganj Block. Scientists and technical personnel highlighted the role of beneficial soil microorganisms in enhancing soil fertility, nutrient-use efficiency, and sustainable crop production. Emphasis was also laid on balanced fertilizer application, soil testing, integrated nutrient management, and eco-friendly crop management practices.

Through interactive farmer–scientist interactions, participants were encouraged to adopt environmentally responsible farming practices for improving resilience against biotic and abiotic stresses and ensuring long-term soil and crop health. As part of the outreach activity, Bio-Phos, a microbial bioformulation developed by ICAR-NBAIM, was distributed among farmers to promote phosphorus solubilization and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers.
The programme witnessed the participation of 66 farmers, including 30 men and 36 women, in Abbupur village, while 60 farmers, comprising 35 men and 25 women, attended the programme in Bhawarkol village.
