A facilitation Workshop was organized by ATARI Bangalore on 6 February 2017 at Directorate of Extension, UAS Bangalore with the technical support of DGS&D Bangalore on purchase process through GeM Portal of Government of India
Dr Srinath Dixit welcomed the officials from KVKs and complemented the DGS&D for acceding to the request and organizing the hands-on training-cum-workshop. He further suggested KVKs to use GeM to procure office items through GeM portal, as it reduces paper work and procedural delays compared to conventional procurement process.
Shri Senjeet Kumar, Director (Q&A), DGS&D Bangalore in his address informed the participants that there is a proposal by Government of India that in future all government purchases will be through GeM Portal only. He told that the facility is hassle free, time saving and transparent. He also informed that in addition to wide range of products, different types of services will also be available on GeM Portal soon and requested all the participants to avail the same.
Shri Senjeet Kumar, Director (Q&A) and other officials from DGS&D engaged the participants through hands-on training. Power Point presentations, videos and live demo on the GeM Portal showing the process of registration as Government Buyer in GeM Portal (HOD, Buyer, Consignee, DDO, PAO), Direct Purchase, Bidding and Reverse Auction were the attractions of the training. The whole purchase cycle including sample purchase order, processing of bills were also explained to the participants in detail.
Officials from the stores purchase department of UAS Bangalore, UAS Dharwad, UAS Raichur, UAHS Shimoga, TNAU Coimbatore, TANUVAS Chennai, KAU Thrissur, IIHR Bangalore, IISR Calicut and nominated Programme Coordinators of KVKs from these Host Organizations and 6 NGO based KVKs participated in the Workshop.
