Union Cabinet Minister of Food processing Industries took pledge on New India Manthan in Bhatinda

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda organized a one day programme on New India Manthan “Sankalp se Siddhi” here today. Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries was the chief guest on this occasion.

In her address, the Minister told about the purpose of the New India Making and the responsibility of each and every citizen for making India a great nation. She narrated the commitment of Central Government for the welfare of farmers and talked about various schemes and programmes initiated by the Government and hoped that these programme will ensure doubling of farmers’ income by 2022. She showed her concern on the problems faced by the farmers of the region in general and whitefly attack in cotton in particular. She urged scientists and farm officers should work hard to transfer the new scientific technologies to the fields in participatory mode. She briefed about the Kisan Sampada Yojana initiated by her ministry. The minister also stressed upon the need of women empowerment and participation of rural youth in agriculture for higher income and employment generation.

In the end, the minster along with all participants took pledge that by 2022, we build a New India towards a clean, poverty-free, corruption-free, terrorism-free, communalism-free and casteism-free India for a strong and self reliant nation.

Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana informed the farmers on various burning issues in agricultural sector including ways and means of increasing the farm income.

More than 800 farmers and farm women participatedin the event. Various experts and KVK scientists deliberated technical lectures on different aspects of crop management including control of white fly in cotton growing areas of Punjab.

An exhibition was also organised to display the products developed by the beneficiaries from ARYA (Attracting and Retaining Youth in Agriculture) project and the chief guest appreciated their venture.
